If you want to know how to do a wedding in 2021, we can learn a lot from Jeff & Sig. The day started early at their beautiful home in Coburg, where they broke tradition and got ready together. There was champagne, whiskey, and the vibe was too relaxed. It was so lovely to film Jeff & Sig getting prepared together, and there were so many intimate moments that I would not have been able to capture had they been apart. They opened a drawer full of 20 varieties of sunglasses, threw on a pair, and then we headed to Coburg Lake for some photos and videos.
We then moved on to The Post Office Hotel in Coburg for the reception. Although I’d been for a drink here, I did not know they had a beautiful, rustic back section where they hold events and weddings.
With Jeff’s relative playing guitar, the ceremony started, and again, they broke tradition and walked down the aisle together. What a beautiful way to step into marriage! Jeff and Sigs personal and heartfelt vowels were terrific and made a great addition to the video.
The night went on, and I truly felt like a guest there. During the speeches, they busted on a spontaneous dance to “Sway with me”. After that, it was onto the dancefloor for more bopping to a homemade Spotify playlist.
Times are changing, and I’m shooting more and more weddings where the couples decide to break tradition and do it their way. It’s your wedding day, so why not hang out together all day? Why not get photos done early so you can sit back and relax? These are all things to think about to make the wedding day a lot more relaxed, easy-going and allows you to spend more time with your partner in crime on the biggest day of your life.
